Logan's Blessing
Altar is set up in the center of the room. A small bowl of blessed water with rose petals in it, is sitting in the center (it has been blessed prior to the ceremony). You may choose to include other mementos on alter such as family photos, flowers, anything of special meaning to the family.
Ceremony begins with parents holding their beautiful new baby standing at the altar. You may like to have soft music in background may be played while guests arrive.

Greeting:
Officiant:
Welcome friends and family! Today is a very joyous day for all of us. It is a day in which we celebrate the birth of this child, Logan, who has been sent to us by God. This child is a piece of God that was given to the earth to make this world a little better, a little more interesting. This child is our future and represents the light of the world. Samantha & Chad have honored all of you today by inviting you to not only witness this beautiful welcoming ceremony, but most importantly, to participate in the blessing of this child.

This event is shared, if in a different way, by those who have passed beyond this life. In particularly Logan’s Grandmother Helen Zyferman and Grandfather Boston Martin, who are no longer with us physically but are here in spirit as we celebrate this joyous occasion.
Samantha and Chad acknowledge and honor the bloodlines, the history and the people who have all gone into the creation of Logan. They remember what it felt to be with these loved ones, and that through shared memories Logan may come to know his ancestors and the lineage that is his birthright.

Invocation (this is the beginning prayer to “invoke” or ask God to be present and bless this service that is about to begin):
Officiant:
So let us begin with a prayer of thanks:
This family has been blessed with a new life.
May Logan’s presence bring joy and gladness to the hearts of all who love him.
May he be blessed and protected through all of the wonderful and difficult things that the years will bring.
May he find goodness and inspiration, and be given
the wisdom to discern the true from the transient.
May his life be rich and full, in wealth that is measured by both the physical and spiritual context of his existence.
May Logan be prosperous in all ways.
May he love well and be well loved.
Through each passage and season may he be surrounded by the warmth of family and friends.
And may his days be forever filled with love and happiness.
Amen.

Parental Promise:
Officiant:
Ladies and gentlemen, I am now going to ask Chad and Samantha to make promises as parents in front of you, their family and friends, as such those who mean the most to them in the world.
Do you promise to nurture and protect Logan throughout his life, promise to support and offer him guidance in the choices that he will make.
(Parents respond): We do
Officiant:
Do you promise to teach Logan right from wrong, to enable him to make his place in society as a kind and caring person?
(Parents respond): We do
Officiant:
Do you promise to teach Logan to celebrate diversity, never ever being aware of prejudice. Knowing no boundaries, to be loving of all that surrounds him in his life, and celebrate the similarities and differences in our world?
(Parents respond): We do. We promise to be the best parents we can
Poem
I would like to share a poem with you that has been specially chosen for Logan by Samantha.
To Logan from your Mom
A Mother's Heart
I loved you from the very start,
You stole my breath, embraced my heart.
Our life together has just begun
You’re part of me my little one.
As mother with child, each day I grew,
My mind was filled with thoughts of you.
I’d daydream of the things we’d share,
Like late-night bottles and Teddy bears.
Like first steps and skinned knees,
Like bedtime stories and ABC’s.
I thought of things you’d want to know,
Like how birds fly and flowers grow.
I thought of lessons I’d need to share,
Like standing tall and playing fair.
When I first saw your precious face,
I prayed your life be touched with grace.
I thanked the angels from above,
And promised you unending love.
Each night I lay you down to sleep,
I gently kiss your head and cheek.
I count your little fingers and toes;
I memorize your eyes and nose.
I linger at your nursery door,
Awed each day I love you more.
Through misty eyes, I dim the light,
I whisper, “I love you” every night.
I loved you from the very start,
You stole my breath, embraced my heart.
As mother and child our journeys begin,
My heart’s yours forever little one.

*Logan is blessed to have so many wonderful people in his life. Samantha and Chad would like to acknowledge Logan’s Aunt Sandrine, Nathalie and Ann. They are grateful for their presence in his life for it is Logan’s family who, through their love and support, well help to shape who he will become, as well as create some of his most cherished childhood memories.
Charge to Grandparents:
Officiant:
There is no other bond quite like that of a grandparent and their grandchild. At this time I would like to invite Mami Nadine and Grandpa Leslie to come stand beside Logan.
Grandparents are a family’s greatest treasure, the founders of a loving legacy, the greatest storytellers, and the keepers of traditions that linger on in cherished memory. Grandparents are the family’s strong foundation. They have a special love that sets them apart from anyone else. They are always there to love you unconditionally, to listen when you feel like you’re not being heard, and to give advice that is always wise and pure of heart.
Today Logan’s Grandparents Harry and Linda Sponder could not be present, however we know they are here with us in spirit as we celebrate this joyous occasion.
Logan is honored to have his Mami Nadine and Grandpa Leslie here today.
Nadine and Leslie will you promise to support Logan, will you promise to play with him, spoil him to the best of your ability and share with him your wisdom and the memories of his ancestors? If so, please answer “We will”.
Grandparents say: We Will
Will you support Logan on his spiritual path, as well as, all other paths in his life? Will you promise to support the parents and godparents to fulfill their sacred promise? If so, please answer, “We will”.

Godparent Introduction:
Officiant:
Chad and Samantha have chosen two Godparents for Logan today. I would like to invite Arielle and Jeff to please come forward and stand next to Logan.
A wonderful tradition in our culture on these occasions is the responsibility accepted by Godparents. The Godparents will undertake a special and lifelong interest in the welfare of Logan.
Today Arielle and Jeff have agreed to become involved in Logan’s life by promising to be there for him should he need support, wisdom, comfort and guidance.
They have been chosen by Chad and Samantha because of their connection with them, and the family. The fact that they have been chosen by Chad and Samantha is an indicator of their position of trust, and respect within this family.
To Arielle and Jeff:
Will you as best as you can, help take care of Logan?
To encourage, guide and support him in all his endeavors?
Help him recognize the beauty within himself and all things?
And to become someday not the man we wish for him, but the realization of his own hopes, dreams and the fulfillment of his soul?”
Godparents: “We will.”
“May you always know how special you are to Chad and Samantha that they would ask you to tend to the most precious thing that they have in this world...”
(Godparents take their seats)

The Blessing of the Child:
Officiant:
Water has long been considered by many as the source of life…. Water is in and around all of
us, and is also a symbol of the human spirit--- always in motion, never ceasing, only taking
new forms….. Every element of God’s creation needs water to grow and thrive, to even
survive. The trees and flowers, the fish and the birds, and all of us…….. Water nourishes us,
cleanses us, comforts us, and renews us.
(If you would like we will insert a blessing on the water here)
Officiant rubs the blessed water on the top of his head and say:
You are connected, protected, loved, and blessed.
Officiant rubs the blessed water on his forehead and say:
All your senses are blessed, protected, and awakened.
Officiant rubs the blessed water over his heart and say:
Your heart is blessed so that you may feel compassion for yourself and others.
Officiant rubs the blessed water on both his hands and say:
Your hands are blessed so that you may reach out to the world.
Officiant rubs the blessed water on both his feet and say:
Your feet are blessed so that you may connect with the earth, be grounded, and stand your ground in this world. Know that your spirit is strong and it will guide you through this life.. Know that you are deeply loved and that your presence brings overwhelming joy.
